All participants should be prepared to do the maximum distance (time) [unless otherwise notified] but all activities by this L are subject to reduced distance/time due to the L's energy level on that particular day! Meet at 1:30pm at the Maple Hill Farm Nature Center (117 Ridge Rd., Hollis, NH) in front of red yurt. This will be about a 2 hour hike, as part of the hike we will hike along Beaver Brook Trail, then over the Nichols Trail for a beautiful view from the top. We will then hike back down to the Eastman Trail, for views of Beaver houses and dams. This hike will be on varied terrain. Please be sure to bring tick protection, water and snacks. Rain cancels. 10:00am-12:30pm. Easy 5 mile walk on lovely wooded trails, including Middlesex Turnpike remains from the 1800s. From the Billerica Rangeway Town Forest to the Chelmsford Russel Mill Town Forest. Although I prefer winter walks, this may be the last time to enjoy this emerald connection. After construction of 400 apartments this area will never look the same again. From the West - Take Rte. 2 Eastbound and get off at Exit 56 (Winter St/Waverly). At end of ramp, take right onto Winter St and follow directions From Winter St. below.
From Winter St. - Follow Winter St. for about one mile to its end and take a left onto Concord Ave. In 1/10th mile bear right onto Mill St. In 1/10th mile take first right down a hill into Rock Meadow parking lot. It comes just after 295 Mill St on the opposite side of the road. It comes on you quickly and is easy to miss. ARRIVE EARLY. PARKING LIMITED. Steady rain cancels.
