Let's hike Crane Pond Wildlife Management Area located in West Newbury and Groveland, MA (Georgetown Rd/J.B. Little Rd) Easy hike ~4.5 miles along forest trails that meander around beaver ponds that populate this area of more than 2000 acres that is managed by the Massachusetts Division of Fish and Wildlife. We'll meet at 1:00pm in front of the gate on J.B. Little Road/Georgetown Road at the West Newbury/Groveland townline. Snowshoes or ice stabilizers (such as Microspikes) will most likely be needed due to snow and ice conditions. From I-95, take exit 56 west onto Scotland Road, right at 0.5 miles onto Indian Hill St, then bear left at 0.5 miles onto Cherry Hill Street and continue onto Bachelor Road for 0.8 miles, then left onto Middle St, continue for 1.4 miles on Middle St, then take left onto Georgetown Road. Continue for about 0.5 miles where the road is gated preventing through traffic. Note: Georgetown Rd becomes J.B. Little Road in Groveland. L Richard Lombard.

Relatively easy hike/snowshoe loop of about 5.5mi through contiguous Spring Hill and Nashoba Brook conservation areas, Acton, MA. 9:30am-1:30pm. Spring Hill contains the longest Acton segment of the Bay Circuit Trail that passes through this pleasant, quiet and wooded area. Adjacent Nashoba Brook is a scenic area with abundant stonework, early mill sites, a ‘potato cave’ and the historic pencil factory site. Meet 9:20am at Spring Hill Rd. cul-de-sac, off Pope Rd, Acton. From the West - Take Rte 2 Eastbound and get off at Exit 56 (Winter St/Waverly). At end of ramp, take right onto Winter St and follow directions From Winter St below.
From Winter St - Follow Winter St for about one mile to its end and take a left onto Concord Ave. In 1/10th mile bear right onto Mill St. In about 1/10th mile take a left into Lone Pine Hill parking lot. It comes shortly after 295 Mill St. It comes on you quickly and is easy to miss.

Slow-paced nature walk looking for late spring wildflowers. The walk will focus on plant ID and fun natural history. 1:00-4:00pm. From Rte 95/128 Exit 33A take Rte 3 South for 3 miles. Left on Pond St. 0.8 miles to parking lot on left. The parking area is opposite #48 Lake Ave, Woburn. Parking limited, arrive early. There is additional parking on Arlington Road on the east side of the pond. Steady rain cancels. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
